Trout Creek Falls

Trout Creek Falls is 20’ high and is found about a mile beyond the end of the road at Trout Lakes in the Carson National forest.

This photo below is of the uppermost lake of Trout Lakes… or Upper Trout Lake.  It is reached by hiking an un-marked, quarter mile trail from the end of Forest Road 125 at Middle Trout Lake.  No one hikes this trail…!!!  It is disappearing!  Many logs have fallen across it.  However, Upper Trout Lake is AMAZING…!!!  It is the largest and best of all the half dozen or so “Trout Lakes.”  You will hike past this lake on your way to Trout Creek Falls.

This pond shown in this photo below is immediately below Upper Trout Lake.  It is small but seems deep enough to support a nice population of trout.  The Upper Trout Lake Trail walks you right by here.  The Canjilon Rim can be seen on the horizon.

Please feel free to Right-click-save-as my map below.  Take a copy with you when you go.  I LOVE THIS AREA…!!!  This Canjilon Rim area is more clean and pristine than any designated wilderness area that I have ever seen…!!!  There are NO maintained trails here… only game trails…!!!  I have your route from the parking area at Middle Trout Lake, to Trout Creek Falls marked with a red dotted line: ENJOY…!!!
